For years, the Free Adobe® Reader® has worked well as a Web Browser plugin for PDF forms.

Not anymore. Web Browsers no longer support plugins.

What Chrome® offers today is a built-in PDF viewer that does not support full PDF form functionality, settings, JavaScript or the ability to submit data.

Option 1: Change the Default PDF Viewer in Chrome

Step 1 - Open Settings

Step 1: Open “Settings” in Chrome

Step 2 - Select Privacy and security

Step 2: Select “Privacy and security”

Step 3: Select Site Settings

Step 3: Select “Site Setting”

Step 4: Select Additional content settings

Step 4: Select “PDF documents” under “Additional content settings”. 

Note: you may need to scroll down and Click the up/down arrow next to “Additional content settings” to see “PDF documents”.

Step 5: Select Download PDF files instead

Step 5: Select “Download PDF files instead” toggle button.

Option 2: Use FormRouter to enable your PDF forms to work in all Web Browsers

FormRouter has a service that renders PDF forms in all major Web Browsers (Chrome®, Safari®, Firefox® and IE) on all major devices (PCs, MACs, iPads®, iPhones®, Android® Tablets and Phones).
